The aim of this course is to overview the main decision support tools used for assessment and management of river basins. The course will have a theoretical and a practical component which will be closely interconnected. As regards the theoretical component, concepts on decision making, participatory processes and Decision Support Systems (DSS) for river basins management are provided. Moreover tools and approaches that are widely implemented into DSS ( as Environmental Risk Assessment, Multi Criteria Decision Analysis, Geographic Information Systems) are introduced. The practical component concerns the application of the Modelkey DSS for river basins assessment and management, including the simulation of a participatory workshop.
