Luis Fernandes has worked as an assistant researcher with the Marine and Environment Technology Center (MARETEC) at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon (UTL) and is now a consultant in coastal modelling. He obtained a degree in Environmental Engineering and a M.Sc. in Ecology, Management and Modeling of the Marine Environment from IST/UTL. His work mainly involves the development of the MOHID Water Modelling System and its application to simulate estuarine, coastal and ocean physical and biogeochemical processes in the framework of several research projects (e.g. MABENE, INSEA, EASY, ECOOP) and several consultancy projects in a wide range of estuarine and coastal systems. He is currently the main moderator and administrator of the MOHID user forum and has been responsible for organizing various MOHID Courses.
