Ali Ertürk is an assistant professor in the Istanbul Technical University, Department of Environmental Engineering. He graduated from the same department in 2000 as environmental engineer. He got the Master of Science degree from the same department in 2002. He finished his PhD on ecology and environmental sciences (sub-branch in water ecology and hydrobiology) in 2008, in Coastal Research and Planning Institute, Klaipeda University, Lithuania. His expertise is ecological analysis and modelling of natural ecosystems with focus on aquatic ecosystems as well as biogeochemical cycles. His work in the Istanbul Technical University, Department of Environmental Engineering includes lecturing in hydrology, marine and lake sciences, marine pollution, water quality, environmental modelling and other related courses. Furthermore he is working in as chief modeller in watershed and water quality planning project by developing new models/modelling software or applying existing ones for ecological analysis and environmental planning purposes. He is the author of 40 technical papers, including papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, several chapters in books related to modeling applications and scientific/technical reports related to ecological analysis of aquatic ecosystems, water quality modeling and watershed and water quality planning.
